Time Keepers: Jon Thorne & Liz Bird

A big thanks to them, as without them the event would not be able to go ahead.

Sunshine and sweat
Out comes the sun block, tinted visors and flip flops. It was an evening that no one seemed to mind the breeze, even though it was not favourable for a fast night
Hydration was key on the night, along with a bucket load of stamina … as long as you didn’t over cook your first outleg up the rolling climb to the airfield straight you were able to push on aided down the airfield straight and have a blitz downhill to the Rothwell roundabout, where you needed to dig deep tuck in as aero as you could to battle up the incline with the constant headwind, that gave little up constant back along the airfield straight and hindering the maximum speed down past the farm and over the bumps to climb back into Lamport… by which time, you were glad to see the turn to Old. That last blast of effort was hindered by a patched repair with loose chippings, so you had to concentrate to keep in the car tyre cleared areas, so you actually forgot that you had the tailwind!
Having warmed up, it was difficult not to overheat whilst waiting to start, and afterwards, it was fun peeling off the skin suit!
It was a good turn out again, with 20 riders signed up and we had one DNF, Jack Patmore (GFCS) who had a puncture.
Let’s get down to the results
KCC Riders
Chris Old took 1st with an impressive 24:00 but it was close as Mark Wethersby only 8 seconds off with 24:08 and Graham Rice snapping up third from Sue Rust by 6 seconds with 26:10.
The KCC ladies Sue Rust and Maria Gent duelled it out, with Sue taking the ladies win 26:16, Maria 28:01
In the juniors Lucas Buksh and Eddie Hennah did a 2up 27:13, great ride, however that left Jake Bird, enjoying his TT experiences … taking a win 31:57, an impressive ride from 12 year old Jake, slicing off seconds each time he rides this course.
Guest Riders
The top riders, fastest guest being Jean-Sebastien Vecten (Velo Elite) 24:13, with Stu Wright (QN Racing) 24:16. That is just 16 seconds between the top 4 riders! Taking third was an impressive ride by Phil Wilkinson (RFW) on a road bike also in the 24’s with 24:47.
Representing the ladies in the guest start sheet was Jade Mobbs, returning to have another go and giving our KCC Maria a challenge for the night as last time Jade came in with a faster time, tonight with 28:15, Maria took it by a few seconds.
