Sunshine brought out a strong field of guest riders
The warmest night of the season, but a transition of sunshine to overcast was welcomed by riders. With a scattering of KCC riders participating the start sheet was representative of an open event than a club event. I can only assume it was half term and many had taken the opportunity to go away now that the lockdown rules allowed and the weather was so much better.
Here’s the results:
KCC Riders
Sue Rust took the overall win and also the only lady rider, 26:49, with Lucas Buksh on his road bike took 2nd 27:54 and the return of Ian Bird challenging on is new stealth road bike took 3rd 28:25.
In fact, half of the KCC start sheet were the duelling Juniors, these youngsters are having a great challenge between themselves, each and every week showing improvement. Winning the 1st title, Lucas Buksh producing yet another pb and slicing his course time to 27:54, Eddie Hennah taking 2nd 28:27 on his TT setup and 3rd Jake Bird taking another 3 seconds off his course pb 31:43.
The small numbers also mean’t half of the KCC starters were on road bike setups, this week was made a little more interesting with Ian Bird having another go at the course, Lucas took the win but Ian Bird is going to snap at his heels in the future with a 28:25 and his son Jake finishing 3rd.
Guest Riders
The event was dominated by strong guest riders, with just 5 seconds between 1st and 2nd, Adam Fisher (Cambridge CC) took the win with 22:31 stealing it from Jack Patmore (Velo Elite) 22:36. Han Van Nierop (WVCC) taking 3rd 23:53.
If I get anyones name, club or more importantly time incorrect please let me know. Apologies in advance. Well done everyone.
