Time Keepers: Jon Thorne & Marcus Buksh
Marshal: Mike Cope
A big thanks to them, as without them the event would not be able to go ahead.
The hatchbacks probably had more carbon than we did!

Our fast Broughton 10m TT course has an early start, signing on from 7am, the first rider off at 8:01am, being Sunday, there’s not usually a lot of traffic, but it’s not uncommon to have flurries of busy times, the majority being cars off somewhere early with the occasional heavy vehicle. With the lockdown lifted and events happening, we had a parade of pimped-up hatch backs, with their spoilers and popping exhausts all off to have some fun somewhere.
The forecast was a dry start and rain later, with the sun out as riders got up and started their journeys it soon changed and by the time we were starting off, it was over cast and getting grey. We had a dry race, with a definite chill in the air, something of the norm at the moment for May having dropped to 3 degrees overnight, riders were adorning base layers.
The headwind made it tough on the way out, continuous effort all the way to the turn at Sywell roundabout, and although it was a tail wind on the way back, there seemed little rest-bite of effort needed to retrace back to the finish.
It was a smaller field of riders than usual, with KCC riders participating in the Camborne 50mTT on Saturday, Mike Cope choosing to rest his legs and marshal however, Maria showed commitment putting her legs through another punishing 10 miles … well done Maria.
Jean-Sebastien Vecten (VeloElite), suffered a puncture shortly after starting and ended up walking back, he hadn’t got far! All other riders finished safely.
KCC Riders
Taking 1st on the tandem at the helm Rob Barker with stoker Sam Barker 21:13, that quadruplet of pedal power blew away the competition of Andy King 23:12 taking 2nd with Sue Rust 3rd 24:29.
Ladies, Sue with her ride took ladies first having little competition with Maria on those tired legs 26:45.
Guest Riders
It was great to see Mike Deely and Phil Wilkinson from RFW join us for the event, who were also joined by Tony Brown, now riding for GFCS and, Jean-Sebastien Vecten and Alex Garner from Velo Elite.
Taking the win for the guests was Tony Brown 22:04, taking 2nd Alex Garner 22;48 and a strong ride from Phil Wilkinson on a road bike taking 3rd 23:37.
Well done everyone.
