Mike says:

Steady, lumpy zone 2 ride

Andy recalls the events of the ride:

For today’s ride I was joined by Scott Barber in Loddington and then Mike Castelete (today’s designated photographer – thanks Mike) in Pipewell.

The storms left their mark

It was clear that yesterday’s storm had left its mark on the countryside as there was plenty of debris both on and by the side of the roads around the whole route.

Fortunately the wind was never a problem going out to the other Loddington and Tilton on the Hill and from there was quite helpful as the group rode back via West Haddon and Holcot keeping nicely to their planned levels of exertion 👍.

The best piece of road was between Cottingham and Bringhurst where the recent roadworks have left a super smooth road where there used to be a lot of potholes.

The newly gravelled surface

Unfortunately the worst bit of road was between Old and Mawsley where the recent gritting had left the surface free of holes but awash with gravel! Both leisure cyclists and TT’ers should avoid this road for a while whilst everything settles down.

Next week

Andy will be posting next week’s ride soon but as a heads up he won’t be riding on the 9th September as he’s playing golf. He may though look to arrange something for the Tuesday or Thursday if that works for others.
