Road Works nearly scuppered us!
A late change of course due to more road works along the road from Mawsley saw us return to the Lamport 10 course. It was a nice clear evening but there was a bit of breeze to contend with along with a the occasional combine harvester making use of the good weather to bring in the crops. Fortunately enough of the riders either didn’t see my initial FB post to cancel the race so turned up at Old Village Hall ready to ride and the consensus was that the Lamport 10 was a great alternative.
As an organiser it was great to see some of our regular riders, a new rider in Sam Broadway easily winning the prettiest bike of the night prize riding her first ever TT and one of my old contemporaries from the 90’s, Paul White, in his second race on the comeback trail. We’ll look forward to seeing you all again in the last few races of the year.
KCC winner on the night was Mark Weathersby riding his road bike to a time of 24:23. He nearly didn’t ride but a last minute loan of a pair of cool shades persuaded him and he was glad he did as he pipped Dan Bates by a couple of seconds. Sue and Lucas scooped the Ladies and Junior sections respectively.
Fastest rider on the night was Tony Brown of George Fox Cycling Solutions crossing the line in a very respectable 22:42 exactly 1 minute ahead of Phil Wilkinson of Rockingham Forest.
Thank you to everybody who rode and enjoyed the evening.
Thanks to the volunteers
As ever we could not run the events without the volunteers and all of the riders are grateful for their input into making the event happen. Chris Old and Dan Bulley helped at the start and finish. Dan also made a dash to help marshal the roundabout when Mick came unstuck on his ride out to marshal there. Also a big thank you to Marcus for his photos. They certainly make the report more interesting!
Thank you all as it would have been a poorer race without you.
