A close run thing,

The sporting N3/25 course on the Mawsley/Lamport/Old course proved a good test of the 8 riders racing in the KCC Club 25m Championship. Whilst the roads, with each section having their own foibles, are well known to most KCC riders not many of them had ridden the 25 mile circuit before the race so it was certainly interesting to see how everybody did.

Rob Barker paced himself nicely to come home first in 1:00:09. That was 7 seconds quicker than Andy Fairley who was pleased with his 1:00:16 as it was a PB for him. Chris Old capped off a good week crossing the line in 3rd with Pete Campbell in 4th. All the riders were impressed with Scott Barber’s road bike time of 1:05:36. He looked pensive afterwards when he was asked when he was going to get a TT bike!

With tired legs after her Tour of Cambridgeshire TT ride on Saturday and a 10m PB on Tuesday Maria Gent was the winner of the ladies’ category.

We also welcomed Gary Ashwell of Welland Valley. He hadn’t ridden the roads or the circuit before but enjoyed the challenge and we hope to see him again at one of our future races.

Thanks to the volunteers

As ever we could not run the events without the volunteers and all of the riders are grateful for their input into making the event happen. Andy King was timekeeping and taking photos whilst Adrian Gorham, Dave Hodgson and Dan Bates were marshalling at the key junctions.

Thank you all as the race couldn’t have run without you.

If you’d like to take part or help out at any future Time Trials then please visit the Event diary where you’ll get all of the dates and courses.
