That was worthwhile!
After a late rush of entries we had a field of strong riders pitting themselves against the clock for the 2nd Broughton to Sywell TT of the year. Standing at the start it felt like there was a slight headwind going out which would mean a tailwind home. The riders said that it didn’t feel too helpful coming back but that just shows that they were still trying hard and they certainly all looked quick as they passed the chequered flag.
Behind each ride was a story
Even though the number of riders wasn’t high each rider had a great reason to be there and showed how important it is that we keep running the races no matter how many riders can race.
For Maria it was an opportunity for her to race after a busy week at work which meant she couldn’t race before Sunday. It was worthwhile as she was only a couple of seconds off her course PB.
For Dan it was the perfect chance for him to test out some new pieces of kit on his TT bike and he was delighted with the results.
For our guest rider Stuart it was the first of 3 sessions in the day as he keeps his Triathlon training at a high level. He rode off ready to go for a run and a swim later in the day.
For Chris it was the chance to get back into the racing groove after a couple of weeks on holiday soaking up the sun and a few calories.
Sam made use of the early start to squeeze in a race around his many family commitments.
And Josh was a late entrant who wanted to race before going to work. Josh must love his work because he was clearly in a hurry to get there!
All good times
You can see from the result sheet below that the times were good from everybody. Congratulations go to Josh who won with a great ride on his road bike and to Maria for her ride in the ladies’ section.
Thanks to the volunteers
As ever we could not run the events without the volunteers and all of the riders are grateful for their input into making the event happen. Graham Rice was the marshal at the Sywell roundabout where he also managed to take photos of most of the riders. Thanks also to Josh Kford for his help around the start and for his excellent photos.
Thank you all as we couldn’t have run the race without you.
