A big thanks to them, as without them the event would not be able to go ahead.
Dispite the threat … we all stayed dry!
Weather: Partly cloudy. 8°C but feels like 6°C. Wind 7.9 mi/h, NNE.
16 hardy souls turned out for the last TT on our Grafton course, the uncertainty of the weather frightened off all except those keen to get one last attempt at a course PB, or to measure their fitness and display the strength needed on this course.
The weather influences the performance of any race, tonight It was bitterly cold, dull and miserable and forecast being a threat of hail and rain, which was just that, a threat as we all stayed dry, thankfully. We even had the pleasure of the sun breaking through the thick cloud, to give us the long shadows and screen glare on the visors, but these hardy souls didn’t faulter.
The weather forecast reflected in the set up of riders, all keen to put in good times, road bikes were the clear favourite for the night with only four TT bikes. We also welcomed back the WDAC riders, having their own inter club duelling … with the return Kat joined by Amy to break up the all-male line up, it’s great to see the WDAC ladies improving each week, well done.
For those come and try riders, we do have a ladies as well as a juniors championship league, so as well as racing against the clock and setting yourself personal goals and targets, if you’re not already a member of an affiliated club, we’d encourage you to join KCC and be included in our club finishing positions, as these positions equal points, and in these categories so you stand a very good chance of doing well. You might even come away with a trophy and some prize money!
Remember to help Jon if KCC is not your first claim, sign on (ie GFCS/KCC), rather than just KCC, this will help Jon tally the monies due as well as help us build the Championship League results table.
Less of the speal, here’s the important bit, the times:
KCC Riders
Eddie Smith rode the strongest on the night, taking the KCC win with 34:08, not his quickest over the course this year, but enough. Leaving 2nd to Lindsey Smith who put in a great time of 34:57 on his road bike, and a well earned 3rd goes to Lucas Buksh, who didn’t extend the course, so punching in a great time of 39:24 at only 14 years old.
No KCC ladies this week, but the juniors made up for that, with Lucas taking the win over Eddie Hennah by over a minute as Eddie crossed the finish with 40:25… just 4 seconds off last weeks pace, that’s impressive Eddie, and well done Lucas, we knew you’d get that turn right! Welcome also to newcomer Jake Bird, participating for his first TT, Jake being only 12 years old was accompanied by his father Ian riding at the rear, took 3rd with 45:16. Well done Jake, we looking forward to seeing more from you.
Guest Riders
Fastest overall on the night and taking the Guests win, came from Richard Jones (Renvale RT) on his road bike 30:51, wow, where did that come from, great ride Richard. A comfortable win over 2nd placed rider Peter Cowler (WDAC) 34:29, and 3rd going to Gary Thacker 35:04.
A mention goes to the rest of the guest riders, a total of seven from WDAC, Kat and Amy holding up the ladies entries and a welcome back to Paul Sturges (VeloELite) who we haven’t seen for a while taking 5th place in the finishing positions splitting up the WDAC riders.
If I get anyones name, club or more importantly time incorrect please let me know. Apologies in advance.
