Over to Notbottle
This weeks club ride saw four of us (Andy Parker, Andy King, Ollie Crabtree and myself (Ian Bird) leave Kettering through the town and start with an attack on the joyous hill of London road before we headed out to Pytchley and on to Orlingbury where we headed over to Hannington and was joined by Sue Rust to make five intrepid explorers on our way out through the lovely Brampton villages and out towards Nobottle. A part of the county we don’t usually explore much but maybe should?
Warmth and a tail wind
It was at this point we turned with a more suitable tail wind towards our coffee stop at the Budist centre at Thornby. Before we got there, we still had a few calories to burn off on our way through East Haddon and Guilsborough where I noticed a coffee place we have to try. We’ll be back for that one! Recommendations please?
With the sun out, it was warming up nicely, arm warmers were peeled off and it was feeling like summer all over again.
Well earned refuel
The buddist centre proved to be a welcome break and even gave us the unexpected surprise of bumping into Adrian and Dave with a few words of wisdom while we re-fueled ourselves.
After the coffee and chat we set off again towards Cottesbrook and the lovely climb up to Brixworth just to make sure the legs were working well! Andy King gave a final push up Mill Lane to Mawsley on the steep section to the t-junction as for him it was the last hill before Loddington, which fuelled them as we did part of the tt course around Old which the 2 Andys decided was a good time to race back to Kettering! That emptied the legs and put smiles on the faces ready for next week.
It was great to see Ollie as it was his first club ride for some time, welcome back Ollie.
More miles
With the club ride measuring 52 miles, it was such a lovely day, Ian continued to eat up the miles looping out to Oundle and through the villages on the east of Kettering and eventually got home having clocked up ninety odd miles, making up for last weeks mechanical :).
