Time Keeper: Jon Thorne
Marshalls: Martin, Jamie and Charlie
A big thanks to them, as without them the event would not be able to go ahead.
The threat of showers, remained just a threat
Rain was forecasted, and although there was light showers during the lead up to the race, by race time it was dry and remained so for the duration of the rides. The roads were damp with a standing water at Mawsley, with a strong westerly that made the Mawsley to Foxhall and the Lamport road all about power and aero.
Due to covid-19 measures, no pusher-off and a hill start, was challenging for riders to clip in and a few fumbled.
Strong rides and the fastest times on the night came from Josh Brown, amazingly on a road bike, being fasted with 21:13, beating the fasted TT setup of Chris Old 22:32, followed by third Adrian Gorham 23:07.
We had a great showing of ladies with the return of Lindsay Scott, joining Natalie, Sue, Maria and Amy. First lady of the night was Sue Rust 24:55, with Maria Gent 25:21 just pipping second over Lindsay Scott 25:28.
New comer, Hudson Henry, rode an impressive 24:34.
In the road bike category with the overall win, Josh 21:13, Lindsey Smith 24:25, Stuart McCagney 26:10.
It was a good mixed field of riders and set ups which gave us a real mix of times, and from what we are seeing so far from the new junior riders, they are well paced and set to challenge the seniors. It’s early in the racing, and over the coming weeks I think we might see a junior or juvenile club record – let’s see .
