49.8 mile clockwise to Laxton, Oundle and back via the Old Barn at Wadenhoe

Clockwise loop north to Laxton – loop eat to Woodnewton – loop southwest to Wadenhoe to stop  – before back to Kettering Twywell.

Starting at Sainsbury’s Kettering

Leave Kettering out eastward to Warkton, turning left at the crossroads to Grafton Underwood to Brigstock, through the centre and out taking the Benefield Road, passing Benefield Castle to Lower Benefield, where we turn left and head to and pass, Upper Benefield, continuing on the Benefield Road onto Deenethorpe.

Taking the north exit, to meet the A43 Bulwick Bypass, crossing over with a right, then left, and heading to Deene, where we find ourselves back on the country lanes, through some very pretty woodland, before reaching the T junction, where we turn right, eastward, to Laxton. Looping back and crossing back over the A43 to head to Blatherwycke, where we keep left, to take the road to Kings Cliffe, that takes us around the Blatherwycke Lake.

On entering Kings Cliffe, take the right as the road forks out, signposted Apethorpe, and then onto Woodnewton, now heading southward on the Cotterstock Road, and on meeting the Glapthorn Road, we head to Oundle. Passing through and out on the Stoke Doyle Road, still travelling southward, onto Pilton before turning west and onto Wadenhoe, where we find ourselves arriving at the Old Barn to stop for a refuel and engage in conversation. After which we continue looping westward, via Aldwincle, heading back to the A6116, which we stay on briefly before heading into Islip so we come out further up on the Thrapston Road, and crossing over the A6116 at the roundabout and head to Twywell, bringing us back out onto Slipton Lane taking us back to the Grafton Underwood cross roads, where we retrace last few miles via Warkton and back into Kettering and making our way to the finish being the same as the start
