The first Thursday evening time trial of the new season
Good to see Dan back
5 riders braved the wind and cold weather at the first Thursday evening TT of the season on the Grafton Underwood course.
It was good to see Dan Bates back on his TT bike, testing his fitness and covering the 13.2 miles in 35:29, the fastest on the night.
The other riders were on their road bikes with Scott Barber recording a very creditable time of 36:11. Jake Bird was the next rider home and first Junior with a fabulous time of 39:33. Ian Bird rounded off the times with a 41:45. Unfortunately Lucas Buksh had an issue part way round so didn’t finish. Given the conditions I expect to see these guys’ times tumble in the coming weeks.
Mother nature throws in the challenge
You can see from the times below that all of the rides were good considering the challenges that mother nature threw at the riders. They all deserved their hot drink and cake afterwards!
Thank you to Marcus Buksh, Michael Cope, Jean-Sébastien Vecten and Eddy Clutton for volunteering to help with timekeeping and marshalling.
Next week
It’s the same time and course next Thursday and I hope to see more riders taking on the challenge as there’s a fair bit of cake still to eat, mainly Vegan if you’re interested.
Thanks to Mike Cope and Marcus for the photos. (click on image in gallery to enlarge and scroll through)
