A harder night than expected
Another good field of riders faced the clock on the Lamport circuit on Thursday evening. After last week’s good conditions this week’s weren’t so good and riders had to dig deep to get decent times. It’s great to see that the overall winner on the night of the KCC riders was Bethany Spencer whose new training regime is clearly paying off for her with a 26:36. Well done Bethany!
Behind Bethany we had joint 2nd fastest times of 27:34 from Graham Rice and Mike Castelete. It was Mike’s first TT in quite a while and on a road bike so well done to Mike.
First junior on the night was Lucas Buksh with 27:47 beating a fatigued Jake Bird. Jake did go home the fastest Bird on the night though as he pipped Ian by 3 seconds. I wonder who was the talkative one in the car on the way home.
It was good to see some of our regular guests back too. Tony Brown of George Fox Cycling Solutions was back after an injury kept him off the bike and he dipped under 24 minutes with a 23:58. Jonathan Allen from University of Birmingham was not far behind at 24:21 and Simon Hunt, in his first KCC ride of the season, stopped the clock at 26:14. Well done guys.
Thanks to the volunteers
As ever we could not run the events without the volunteers and all of the riders are grateful for their input into making the event happen. Sue Rust and Marcus were organising and teaching some of the aspects of running TT’s to the other volunteers. Thanks to Haythem Rashed for offering to learn how to Time Keep. To Natalie Sharp for raising a hand and helping push the riders away. Thanks too to Mick Wood and Mike Lewendon for marshalling the Rothwell roundabout. Finally I must thank Alan Spencer for the photos. You got some good ones there Alan!
Thank you all as it would have been a poorer race without you.
